Scopello Boutique Retreat

A historic house and terraced garden above the Tonnara
Scroll

A retreat of rare charm, where the history of an old Sicilian hamlet meets the sea.

The Place

A garden suspended above the sea

In the heart of the Baglio di Scopello stands an eighteenth-century house — once owned by Ferdinand IV of Bourbon — restored with care to bring the soul of an old Sicilian hamlet together with the comfort of today.

What makes it singular is the terraced rock garden, climbing all the way to the top of the cliff: from up there the view takes in the Gulf of Castellammare and the Tonnara di Scopello.

The setting

Where every hour of the day becomes a memory

Olive trees, dry-stone walls and Mediterranean light shape a series of panoramic terraces, each with its own view and its own mood — from the gold of first light to dinner under the stars.

The Restoration

The rebirth of a house

Before it came back to life, the baglio was a silent ruin. We restored it patiently — stone by stone, fresco by fresco — so that every corner would keep its own memory. Here is how it was, and how it came back to life.

The House

Within the restored walls

Two floors of unmistakable historic character: a large sitting room with a fireplace and a generous kitchen on the ground floor; upstairs, bedrooms with panoramic views beneath frescoed ceilings brought back to light.

Old stone and contemporary comfort live side by side in every room — in the same house that, a little over thirty years ago, was nothing but a ruin.
